New Electric Car Launches by Ford in 2011 and 2012

In 2011 Ford motors has revealed three new electrified vehicles. It introduced the C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid. A few weeks earlier, Focus Electric by Ford was showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show.

Focus Electric:
Focus Electric will be launched in to the North American auto market in the late 2011 and is expected to deliver a mile-per-gallon equivalent better than GM’s Chevy Volt. It can be fully recharged in three to four hours using a 240 volt charger. The vehicle status can be tracked by the My Ford mobile application using a smart phone.

C-MAX Energi:
C Max Energi expected to be intoduced in 2012, is designed to achieve a 500 mile range using the battery and a gasoline engine. The C-MAX Energi with the help of My Ford Touch technology, enables the owner to know vehicle information including fuel level and reserve battery power.

Ford Focus:
The all electric version of the Ford Focus is set to be launched in 19 markets in late 2011. It is a 100 mile range, five door hatchback and has the features like speed charging, highly customizable displays, and liquid cooled or heated batteries.

abs speed sensorAll the electric versions in the Ford use advanced lithium-ion batteries, which are about 20 percent smaller and up to 50 percent lighter, compared to nickel hydride batteries. Ford is introducing these hybrids which will be in competition with the Nissan Leaf and the Chevrolet Volt.
