According to online auction house eBay, the number of small businesses which are going to hit the million pound mark by trading online is projected to double this year. Data released by the e-commerce site showed that, in 2009, only 66 companies managed to achieve a turnover of £1m, with the number expected to increase to 127 by the end of 2010. ebay.co.uk states that this year, 7 companies started selling goods online with 11 companies are increasing their turnover more than 300% annually.
The above data gives a clear indication that these small firms are really able to sustain the economic downturn, as most of the companies were able to manage to increase their revenue with only 8 out of 66 companies seeing a drop in their revenue this year.
